Customize and Tuning Ubuntu Linux

  1. Grant quick and easy sudo access
    1. here’s how: used vi to edit the /etc/sudoers file
    2. then add a line containing: %sudo ALL=(ALL:ALL) NOPASSWD:ALL
    3. then edit /etc/group using VI
    4. then add a line to it containing: sudo:x:N:USERNAME where N is a number that is one more than the largest, and USERNAME is the user’s name that you want to use sudo
  2. Disable the Firewall
    1. as root: ufw disable or ufw enable
    2. add a TCP port: sudo ufw allow 80/tcp
  3. Enable SSH access
    1. sudo apt update
    2. sudo apt install openssh-server
    3. sudo systemctl status ssh
